Offshore projects are complex and capital intensive, involving specialised vessels and technologies, precise planning and extensive support mechanisms. The management of these operations must also take into account the critical issues of safety and environmental protection.
The minor is intended to explore the various subjects of an offshore project

Minor content

The subjects that will be handled during the minor consist of :

Dredge Operations, Stability for ships an MOU’s, Anchor Handling, Offshore operations, Subsea Operations, Shore Operations, Offshore Survey Systems Dynamic Positioning Operations, Offshore Safety, en Project management and Thesis.

The minor has a strong maritime orientation, it focuses on the nautical and technical aspects of the topics. The minor is targets maritime students who have earned 120 ec’s in the first 3 years and have been to sea for at least 75 days.

Structure of the minor

The offshore industry is moving into ever-deeper waters and more
challenging environments. The industry supporting them must therefore
adapt to new technologies, increasingly specialised vessel design and
more sophisticated management strategies.
This Offshore minor delivers the general knowledge needed to
fully engage with this evolving sector which represents one of the fastest growing
frontiers of global sustainable energy development as well as fosil fuel xploration.
