Project From Message to Movement: Co-Creating a Sustainability Communication Roadmap for Festivals
Together we are developing a practical toolkit, a communication roadmap, that helps music festivals communicate their sustainability efforts clearly, credibly and effectively.
Motivation
Many festivals are becoming more sustainable and aim to bring their audiences along, but they do not always succeed in communicating this in an engaging way. As a result, impact often remains limited. This project closes that gap: we combine practical experience and research insights and, in co-creation with festivals, translate them into a usable tool that works in festival practice.
Approach
ESNS contributes practical knowledge and a broad European network, the research chair brings expertise in communication and behaviour change, and Thansk provides creative design so the roadmap is both attractive and applicable. Students from the Academy of Media, Commerce and Entrepreneurship at NHL Stenden are actively involved in the co-creation process and carry out design-led research. In this way we connect education, research and practice and produce a roadmap that festivals can use immediately.
Objective
This project supports festivals in communicating about sustainability before, during and after the event. The roadmap helps organisers translate their efforts into genuine audience engagement and lasting behaviour change, so that sustainability initiatives reach beyond the festival itself.
Partners
The project is a collaboration with ESNS and Thansk en is funded by a KIEM MV funding.
