Project: Hbo-inclusion tool
However, it is still insufficiently clear how universities of applied sciences address these issues in practice and how staff members experience inclusion. The Hbo Inclusion Tool maps this out nationwide and systematically for the first time.
Background
Although many universities of applied sciences are committed to D&I, there is no comprehensive overview of existing policies and staff experiences. As a result, it is difficult to determine what works, where challenges lie, and how institutions can learn from one another. The Hbo Inclusion Tool makes it possible, for the first time, to link policy and practice, thereby creating a unique basis for evidence-informed recommendations.
Project Approach
The project develops an instrument consisting of two components:
- Policy Scan: an inventory of D&I policies and related activities at universities of applied sciences.
- Employee Scan: a measurement of perceptions and experiences of inclusion among different groups of staff members.
The strength of the Hbo Inclusion Tool lies in the connection between policy level and staff level. The tool is developed in close collaboration with practice partners such as D&I portfolio holders, HR staff, and university employees. This ensures a relevant design and recommendations that can be directly applied in practice.
Project Partners
The project runs from 2025 to 2028 and is carried out in collaboration with Hogeschool Utrecht and the training and labour market fund Zestor.
