From science to practice
At NHL Stenden, learning by doing is fundamental, and the same applies to AIHR. Researchers, students, and collaborative partners work together using Design-Based Research. This method seamlessly aligns with NHL Stenden’s educational concept: Design-Based Education, the research area of Hanneke Assen, professor of Hospitality Education at AIHR. The result? No theoretical research left collecting dust, but solutions that directly contribute to innovation and sustainability in the hospitality sector.
Sharing and applying knowledge
AIHR collaborates closely with businesses and (inter)national partners to bring knowledge to life. Innovative projects like KIEM Circular Economy drive sustainable development while also contributing directly to regional prosperity. Students benefit as well: during the minor Hostmanship, they work with the latest research insights and apply them directly in real-world settings.
Looking forward
AIHR's ambitions reach further. A UNESCO Chair application is being prepared by Ian Yeoman, the third professor at AIHR, along with further professionalisation of the research programme. These are important steps to strengthen AIHR’s position, within NHL Stenden and internationally.
